Arizona Immigation Laws (& the Left cries racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist! racist!)

Arizona enacted policy to address illegal immigration. Eric Holder threatened legal action to block the law. Broccoli Obama said the law threatened "to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and our communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe." Insignificant parts of of Southern California will boycott Arizona for racism.

Oh, brother.

The new Arizona law restates, often in verbatim, existing federal law. Here's the preamble of Arizona SB1070:

“The [Arizona State] legislature finds that there is a compelling interest in the cooperative enforcement of federal immigration laws throughout all of Arizona. The legislature declares that the intent of this act is to make attrition through enforcement the public policy of all state and local government agencies in Arizona. The provisions of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States.”

See whole text of the law at http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/sb1070h.pdf Reading it, the law is a statement the state will make illegals caught in AZ (usually doing a drug smuggling crime) available to ICE for processing.

Arizona has a big problem with illegal drug importation along their southern border, also the southern US border. The violence these drug smugglers bring with them is principally what Arizona seeks to treat. Naturally, Mr Obama would rather sacrifice innocent American lives instead of securing the national boundary. This morning (5/21/10), on CNBC, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that they will not support Arizona Law. Arizona's co-operation with the feds will not be reciprocal.

"I don't think the Arizona law, or laws like it, are the solution," John Morton said. Morton heads Mr Obama's version of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Mr Obama and the rest of his crowd clearly want to change America. Part of that is to change American immigration law. Let us debate the matter openly and clearly. No more smoke filled backroom deals. But please Mr Obama, can we stick to the truth and not blather non-sense?

I think I'll call Mr Obama Broccoli Obama. It sounds kind of like his first name, it does not mean "blessed" (Barrack means "blessed" in Arabic), it reminds me that Mr O is really a vegetable that makes me want to gag, and my spell checker won't keep tripping over the name.
