That Cheerios ad

That Cheerios ad is very sweet. I must admit I wondered if the daddy-figure was about to tell his daughter she was about to get a second daddy-figure instead of a little brother (and a puppy it turned out). What would that little girl have parlayed a second daddy into?

The racist rightwing is a product of a fevered leftist imagination. The most severe racists in the United States have come from the Democratic Party, ever since the day the left made war against the first Republican president (Lincoln) to keep race-based slavery alive in the old South. Or who can forget the Democrat racists who refused to vote for the Civil Rights Act of 1964? 80% of the Republicans in Congress voted for the act; only 61% of the Democrats in Congress voted for the Act (source). In the event, President Johnson (D) signed the Act into law. (Its worthwhile to note that President Kennedy (D) had called for the Act, but he was assassinated by an American Leftist in 1963. The American Left has a long tradition of eating its own.)

The fun is the fact that MSNBC shallowness reveals the American "liberals" and leftists are all bigots. The left constantly mistakes a genuine difference as unacceptable behavior -- which leftists feel validates their total intolerance. That, coupled with a convenient forgetfulness about their own history of intolerance and racism somehow makes the stale wind from the left mere bad humor. The Left has a lot more intolerance to answer for than the American right
