Biden on Unprecedented pace of use of Executive Orders

Government by diktat.

As of Sunday - 25 executive orders, 10 presidential memos and four proclamations.  Biden defended himself with this twisted excuse: “I’m not making new law. I’m eliminating bad policy” (Washington Examiner).

President Joe Biden signed a series of illegal immigration executive orders from the White House Tuesday evening, inching the total number of executive actions to nearly 50 since taking office just two weeks ago (Katie Pavlich - Townhall).

The US Constitution described a then-new form of government -- a government by the people, and made up of written law the people would have a chance to examine to see if they approved.

In concession to reality, this republican government of laws would use democratic representation of the people in a congress, rather than have millions of people show up for legislative sessions.

Up 'til this time, national government executives were kings who ruled by unlegislated executive order rather than governed.  The originators of the American government saw this as a poor idea.  They described the office of national executive, the "president," in Article 2 of the US Constitution.

  • "The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America (Article II, Section 1)"
  • "he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed (Article II, Section 3)".

The US Constitution conceived an outline of the American government:   It is a description of  structure of the government, and a divvying up of assignments and power to the branches -- executive, legislative and judicial.  In the old king-system all those roles were vested in the King.  In the new American system they are expressly divided to make it more difficult to oppress the people.

The system had to be somewhat flexible to be able to grow with the country, and still not get bent out of shape.. Given this, it became inevitable that some politicians would complain that the Constitution is out of date, or should be a "living document," so they can insert more power for themselves and thereby subvert the responsibility and power of the several branches.

Which brings up to Joe Biden and the (anti)Democratic Party.

Mr Biden has made more than 50 Executive Orders, /so far/.  Every order appears not to be based on the Constitutional purpose of enforcing Congressional law.  Instead Mr Biden is fulfilling private promises that Mr Biden's buddies expected in exchange for campaign contributions.

Executive orders are subject to judicial review and may be overturned if the orders lack support by statute or the Constitution.  By that time, Mr Biden's pals will have their reward at your expense.
