Carbon Crucifixions

Mr Obama, in his Tuesday night address, said British Petroleum is responsible for the environmental clean-up from the Gulf oil leak and must “compensate the workers and business owners who have been harmed as a result of [BP's] recklessness."

Reckless is the right word. BP was nearly as reckless as the environmental policy that requires oil service companies to drill in over a mile deep sea water. There are far more dangers involved in drilling in the deep ocean. But environmentalists don't care; the oil companies are big and the oil rigs are out of sight. Casting blame is easy.

The politicians also know that when the inevitable disaster happens, it will be harder to stop. So what? the politicians reason -- politicians can always blame the oil companies.

They did.

This creepy president has decided to use the gulf environment for a backdrop to his insistence to cripple the American people with carbon tax called Cap and Trade. Harvard University's Belfer Center predicts that Obama's goals will require gasoline prices of $7 to $9 a gallon under Cap & Trade. C&T will cost American families as much as $3,000 annually.

If Mr Obama's plans merely included sponsoring development of alternate energy source there would be no rational objection. Instead, he plans to tax first, and leave no resource for private development of any alternatives. Its another of Mr Obama's greedy power and money grabs. He is a thief.

We tried war criminals after World War 2. Maybe we should consider trials for Peace Prize criminals.

Food tax

I suppose it has occurred to everyone that American food production is very energy intensive. If Mr Obama's Cap and Trade is enacted, watch for food prices to skyrocket too. This may be the first generation of Americans to experience such a privation at the hands of their government as to be unable to afford food.

Mr Obama got closer to his stated policy objective of skyrocketing electricity rates today with the defeat of the Murkowski Amendment. The Senate also abdicated its role in policy making by their implicit authorization of the EPA to lay and collect new taxes.

In the US, electricity retails for an average of $.1072 per kilowatt hour in residential use. The predicted increase in rates will make that more like $.30 per kwh.

Gasoline will also go up. During the campaign Mr Obama stated his policy objective was to impose a federal fuel tax in the neighborhood of $4 or $5 per gallon. There is no equal to a politician's greed.

As serious as the impact on American energy prices is that the Congress will be unable to affect these rates; the Senate turned over legislating new taxes to the executive.

If you voted for change, you got it. We are now definitely headed into a despotic state, thanks to the ironically named "Democratic" Party. This is serious insurrection against the people. We need to be prepared for almost any abuse of power now.

Bad prognosis - Obama is a bad idea.

In reference to Joe Wilson's anger during Mr Obama's Congressional presentation, Jimmah Carter said, "I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he's African-American."

Calling Wilson's outburst racism is asinine.

There is huge resentment toward Mr Obama because he is an condescending, aristocratic, micro-manager. The man trifles with human life, witness his pro-abortion stance, where real children are slaughtered. Witness his attitude toward the sick and dying, with prognosis tests in the Health bill. If you have a poor prognosis, they will give you pain pills and watch you die. No other treatment.

The widespread and growing impression of Mr Obama is he is indifferent to ordinary people's concerns. This manifests in a number of ways, most plainly in the government control of health care access bill currently floating around Congress. There is no additional provision of health care, but there are a number of reasons why government will be able to deny access. There is a prognosis and a means test. Lastly, Mr Obama and the entire government are exempt from those provisions.

The essence of a republic is there is one law for all. The essence of aristocracy is the emergence of a privileged class. No longer are people all considered equal. If this persists, I cannot see this leading anywhere but civil war.
