Government Spending Reduces National Debt?

The merchants of nonsense, Rep Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and President Joe Biden, say when government spends, the national debt goes down.

"When we're having this discussion, it's important to dispel some of those who say, well it's the government spending. No, it isn't. The government spending is doing the exact reverse, reducing the national debt. It is not inflationary," said Nancy Pelosi (Twitter).

Amazingly but not surprisingly, Joe Biden tried to make the same point (Fox News).

So maybe that is why the Democrats revived the use of earmarks to funnel millions to vulnerable Democrats.  Its a government debt reduction effort.

Mr Biden’s 2,741-page budget bill, which passed with bipartisan support last week, was the first in over a decade to include earmarks. The discretionary spending measures were long banned under Republican control of Congress but came back last year under Democrats’ unified control of the House and the Senate.  While Republicans also benefit from the budget’s allotments, some of the biggest winners from the inclusion of $8 billion in earmarks are Democrats facing tough reelection challenges this year. Sen. Raphael Warnock, for instance, inserted earmarks worth roughly $95 million to fund pet projects in his home state of Georgia. (Washington Times)
